Lauren R. Lewis, painting conservator
I earned my MS and Certificate of Conservation from the Winterthur/University of Delaware Program in Art Conservation with a focus in painting conservation and preventive conservation, and I am a Professional Associate in the American Institute for Conservation of HIstoric and Artistic Works. I moved to Rockland, Maine in 1998 to work for the Wyeth Study Center at the Farnsworth Art Museum, and here I have been afforded the opportunity to work personally with both Andrew Wyeth, before his death in 2009, and Jamie Wyeth, and their paintings. Through the Farnsworth, I curated two major exhibitions of Jamie Wyeth's work. This working relationship has given me a unique perspective on the artistic process and has given the Wyeths a unique perspective on conservation. Seeing that this part of the country had a need for professional conservation services, I started Lewis Conservation Services in 2000, and incorporated in 2012. In 2020, I moved my studio from South Thomaston to Rockland, the "Art Capital of Maine". My clients have included the Farnsworth Art Museum, the Penobscot Marine Museum, the Monhegan Museum, the Needham Public Library and the Bar Harbor Historical Society, as well as artists, galleries, corporate collections and private collectors across the country.  I have treated works by N. C. Wyeth, Andrew Wyeth, Jamie Wyeth, John McCoy, Alex Katz, Andrew Winter, Abraham Bogdanove, Reuben Tam, William Pierce Stubbs, Lynne Drexler and Robert Hamilton and many others.
Committed to conserving works of art for future generations, and educating the public on preservation care
